How it all began...

What started as my husband’s simple birthday wish quickly became something much
bigger. For his 50th birthday in June 2024, he decided there was only one proper way to
celebrate: watching his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers play at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

I repeatedly reminded him that if he was choosing a baseball-centered vacation, our
adult sons would probably appreciate the experience far more than I would. I
encouraged him to make it a father-and-sons trip, but he insisted he wanted to celebrate
with me. Reluctantly—but lovingly—I agreed to what I thought would be a long weekend
in Pittsburgh built around two baseball games.

Somewhere along the way, however, “a long weekend” quietly evolved into a six-day
road trip that included not only baseball in Pittsburgh, but also a “quick” detour into
Kentucky to explore this thing called bourbon. What started as a birthday baseball
getaway gradually became an unexpected mix of ballparks, backroads, and bourbon
distilleries.
